Climate Change, Once Considered an Issue for a Distant Future, has Moved Firmly into the Present

A new report clearly concludes that the world has warmed primarily due to human activities over the last 50 years. 300 experts and 60 government officials are behind this report. Go up against that!

Here is the million dollar quote from the report:

Climate change, once considered an issue for a distant future, has moved firmly into the present.

Time to start worrying!

Even though I read about climate change, I sometimes have a difficult times getting my arms around the true impact of climate change. There is a great video around how coastal Bangladesh will change as sea levels rise. That helps. So does this nugget from the report:

This ocean acidification makes water more corrosive, reducing the capacity of marine organisms with shells or skeletons made of calcium carbonate (such as corals, krill, oysters, clams, and crabs) to survive, grow, and reproduce, which in turn will affect the marine food chain.

The website neatly summarizes the full report (which is over 800 pages). Suggest going there first. It is beautifully designed and presented. (Will definitely be borrowing some ideas for my presentations decks.)
