Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM)

I am responsible for developing a waterfall-agile hybrid approach for the program I am leading at work. Since, I am a big fan of leveraging a library (see Rule VI for details), I decided to go through some old System Integration related deliverables. Going through my archives I found the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) – it provides a framework to trace the requirements to the types of testing being performed to ensure complete coverage. When properly implemented framework will help manage cost and quality.

The approach depicted in the diagram here supports a typical waterfall methodology – requirements, design, coding and testing (all 4 types: unit, system, user and parallel). This will be a great to start to the waterfall-agile hybrid approach I have to develop.
